Venerable Chris teaching students walking meditation at Ashfield Uniting Church and Exodus Foundation, Sydney, where the Institute was located for two years. In 1992, HE Khejok Rinpoche had asked Venerable Chris to teach Buddhism in the Institute. During this time, Venerable Chris learned about the western spiritual approach to healing those with problems. The Ashfield Uniting Church and Exodus Foundation is run by Reverend Bill Crews, and feeds the poor and homeless and operates a youth refuge. The church had integrated many different types of Christianity. For example, the chaplain for the church was a Catholic Nun. Reverend Bill Crews thought it was a good idea to also have the Institute on the premises.
